Moral luxury. Short Essay
The illusion of decision-maker. Our profession has been shaped by pivotal decision-making from our founding fathers (and mothers, of course). Blatantly usurped by disgusting political strategy in the name of equality, access, and avail, the blend of art and science has gone awry. We are now just the pawn, constrained by system and are forced to play along - and fight with our patients.
The latent shift-thinking from so-called noble profession to just another profession has robbed us of our dignity as a service provider. How can you name a price for human lives that had undergone economic calculation, diseases-specific categorization, while completely ignorant of the ethical consideration?
The result is, we succumb to power-less approach. It is what it is, take it or leave. Our subconscious may revolt and manifest in character corruption. We are the ones being wronged, not our patients - who were granted healthcare for all.
